Whatnot Fee Calculator
Enter your sale price, what the item cost you and what you pay to ship it. The calculator shows the fees, your payout, your profit and the lowest price where you still break even. Every rate can be edited.
How to use this Whatnot Fee Calculator
- Enter the price you plan to list the item for and the shipping the buyer pays you, if any.
- Enter what the item cost you and what you pay for the shipping label and packaging.
- Check the fee rates. They start from an 8% commission plus 2.9% + $0.30 payment processing on the total order and you can change any of them to match the rates on the Whatnot seller fee page.
- Add other costs such as supplies or a listing add-on, if you have them.
- Press Calculate to see fees, payout, profit and the break-even price. Use Copy result to save it.
How to calculate Whatnot fees and profit
The calculator adds the selling fee and the payment fee, then subtracts them and your costs from what the buyer pays.
- Total paid by the buyer = sale price + shipping charged
- Selling fee = fee rate x sale price + fixed fee
- Payment fee = processing rate x total paid + fixed fee
- Payout = total paid – selling fee – payment fee
- Profit = payout – item cost – shipping cost – other costs
Worked example
You sell an item for $50 and the buyer pays $8 shipping. The item cost you $15 and your shipping label and packaging cost $8. Using the defaults (an 8% commission plus 2.9% + $0.30 payment processing on the total order), the fees are $5.98, which is 10.3% of the $58.00 the buyer pays in total. You receive $52.02 before your own costs. After the item cost and shipping your profit is $29.02, a margin of 50.0% on the sale. The break-even sale price, where profit is zero, is $17.43.
Whatnot sells in live shows, so pricing is often set by bidding. Use the break-even price as your opening bid or your floor. If your show has many small sales, the fixed $0.30 per order matters, so bundle items into one order where you can.
Shipping and buyer-paid tax also count toward the order total for processing, so a higher shipping charge raises the processing fee slightly.
Assumptions & limits
- The defaults come from the Whatnot seller fees page, which lists an 8% commission for most categories and 2.9% + $0.30 processing on the total order value. Some categories have different rates, so check yours.
- The fee rates are editable inputs. Platforms change fees and add promotions, categories and tiers, so check the official fee page before you set prices. Rates in this tool were last checked on November 5, 2026.
- The calculator does not include sales tax collected by the platform, income tax, returns, chargebacks or promoted listing costs.
- The break-even price assumes your costs stay the same and that every fee scales with the sale as shown.
- It is a pricing guide, not financial or tax advice.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Whatnot charge sellers?
The calculator starts from an 8% commission plus 2.9% + $0.30 payment processing on the total order. These can change, so check the Whatnot seller fee page and edit the rates if they differ.
Does Whatnot charge fees on shipping and tax?
The page says payment processing applies to the total order value, which includes shipping and buyer-paid tax. This calculator applies processing to the sale price plus shipping, and you can add tax into the shipping field.
How do I find my break-even price?
Add your item cost, shipping and fixed fees, then divide by one minus the fee percentages. The calculator does this and shows the result.
Does the payout include shipping?
Shipping the buyer pays is part of the total they pay, so the payout includes it. Your own shipping label cost is then taken off as a cost.
