Mercari Fee Calculator

Enter your sale price, what the item cost you and what you pay to ship it. The calculator shows the fees, your payout, your profit and the lowest price where you still break even. Every rate can be edited.

How to use this Mercari Fee Calculator

  1. Enter the price you plan to list the item for and the shipping the buyer pays you, if any.
  2. Enter what the item cost you and what you pay for the shipping label and packaging.
  3. Check the fee rates. They start from Mercari’s 10% selling fee, with no separate seller payment processing fee, and you can change any of them to match the rates on the Mercari help center.
  4. Add other costs such as supplies or a listing add-on, if you have them.
  5. Press Calculate to see fees, payout, profit and the break-even price. Use Copy result to save it.

How to calculate Mercari fees and profit

The calculator adds the selling fee and the payment fee, then subtracts them and your costs from what the buyer pays.

  • Total paid by the buyer = sale price + shipping charged
  • Selling fee = fee rate x (sale price + shipping charged) + fixed fee
  • Payment fee = processing rate x total paid + fixed fee (both default to 0)
  • Payout = total paid – selling fee – payment fee
  • Profit margin = profit / sale price (the item price you list, without shipping)
  • Profit = payout – item cost – shipping cost – other costs

Worked example

You sell an item for $50 and the buyer pays $8 shipping. The item cost you $15 and your shipping label and packaging cost $8. Using the defaults (a 10% selling fee on the item price plus buyer-paid shipping, and no separate payment processing fee), the buyer pays $58.00 in total and the fee is 10% of $58.00, which is $5.80. You receive $52.20 before your own costs. Your costs are $15 for the item and $8 for the shipping label, $23 in all, so your profit is $29.20. That is a margin of 58.4% on the $50 sale price ($29.20 / $50). The break-even sale price, where profit is zero, is $17.56.

The selling fee is a percentage of the item price plus the shipping the buyer pays, so charging the buyer more for shipping also raises the fee. Set a minimum price that still leaves a profit after your own shipping cost.

Use the break-even price in the result as your floor. If you offer a discount to a buyer who likes your listing, run the calculator again at the lower price to confirm you still make money.

Assumptions & limits

  • The defaults match Mercari’s “Fees on Mercari” help page (updated October 23, 2026): a 10% selling fee on the item price plus buyer-paid shipping for listings created or updated on or after January 6, 2025, and no separate payment processing fee. Older listings that have not been updated may still follow the previous structure, so check your own listing.
  • The fee rates are editable inputs. Platforms change fees and add promotions, so check the official fee page before you set prices. Instant Pay cash-outs (a flat $3 on Mercari’s page) and the buyer-side Buyer Protection fee are not included. Add the cash-out cost under other costs if you use it.
  • The calculator does not include sales tax collected by the platform, income tax, returns, chargebacks or promoted listing costs.
  • The break-even price assumes your costs stay the same and that every fee scales with the sale as shown.
  • It is a pricing guide, not financial or tax advice.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Mercari charge sellers?

Mercari’s Fees help page lists a 10% selling fee for listings created or updated on or after January 6, 2025, with no separate payment processing fee. Fees can change, so check the Mercari help center and edit the rates if they differ.

Is the Mercari selling fee charged on shipping?

Yes. Mercari states the 10% selling fee applies to the item price plus buyer-paid shipping, and the calculator does the same.

How do I find my break-even price?

Add your item cost, shipping label and fixed fees, divide by one minus the fee rate, then subtract the shipping the buyer pays. The calculator does this and shows the result.

Does the payout include shipping?

Shipping the buyer pays is part of the total they pay, so the payout includes it. Your own shipping label cost is then taken off as a cost.
